Opening Reception: Evidence of Becoming at Recess – Brooklyn, NY
Join Recess to celebrate the opening of Evidence of Becoming, a landmark exhibition marking ten years of Assembly.
Gather with exhibiting artists, Assembly participants, alumni, teaching artists, staff, collaborators, and neighbors for an evening of music, food, and community as we celebrate a decade of artistic practice, collective care, and self-determination.
Featuring the work of 24 artists and more than 67 artworks, Evidence of Becoming traces the evolving community of Assembly through artwork, archives, films, photography, writing, and ephemera. Join us as we open this living archive and celebrate everyone who has shaped Assembly over the past ten years.
Free and open to the public. RSVP encouraged.

About Assembly
Founded in 2016, Assembly offers system-impacted young people aged 18-26 an inroad to art and connections to working artists, while serving as an alternative to incarceration and intersecting systems of harm and oppression. Assembly empowers young people to take charge of their own life story and envision a future through art.
About Recess
Recess partners with artists, youth, writers, and their chosen publics to create transformative cultural experiences.
Our programs welcome radical thinkers to imagine and shape networks of resilience and safety. By challenging dominant narratives and activating new forms of creative production, Recess defines and advances the possibilities of contemporary art.
Recess is free and open to the public to serve as a meeting place to generate art, ideas and actions.
