On Route 66, Closing Reception and BBQ at Queen Rose Art House – Tulsa, OK

Celebrating Route 66’s cultural impact, this exhibition features General Hospital episodes 12099, 12106, and Francophrenia (or: Don’t Kill Me, I Know Where The Baby Is) (2012).

After completing his first story arc on General Hospital, Hollywood actor-director-artist James Franco attended a lecture artist Kalup Linzy was giving at Columbia University in New York City. A couple months later, Linzy was invited to be part of the next arc that would center around James Franco’s serial killer character Franco committing murders and leaving crime scene photographs in various cities along the historic Route 66. He used the lyrics of the famous song “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66” as a blueprint for his cross-country killing spree, with the intention of leading his rival, Jason Morgan, to a final confrontation in Los Angeles. Linzy performs “Route 66” and is featured in the final confrontation scene.

Francophrenia (or: Don’t Kill Me, I Know Where The Baby Is) is a 2012 experimental psychological thriller and pseudo-documentary directed by James Franco and Ian Olds. The film repurposes behind-the-scenes and television footage from Franco’s 2010 guest-starring stint on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. Linzy is a featured cast member.
