In Recital: Leon G. Reid, piano at Stanwich Church – Greenwich, CT
Mr. Reid, a graduate of LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts, made his first Carnegie Hall appearance at the age of seventeen. He received his Bachelor of Music (Piano Performance) from Manhattan School of Music and his Master of Arts (Music and Music Education) from Teachers College Columbia University. He has performed recitals in the United States, Bermuda, and the West Indies. A former public and private school music teacher, Mr. Reid also worked with the artistic division of the Boys Choir of Harlem, Inc. as an accompanist and its affiliate Girls Choir of Harlem as accompanist and associate conductor.
Having begun his church musician journey at the age of eleven choosing and playing the hymns for his Sunday School class, Mr. Reid’s professional career in sacred music began at the age of fifteen. It includes roles as pianist, organist, and conductor at churches in the tri-state area. He is currently Minister of Music at Stanwich Church (Greenwich, CT) and a private piano instructor serving students in New York City, Westchester County, and Connecticut.
