A Jubilant June is ahead as the the tribe of scribes and good will gather once again at The Common Earth Company @thecommonearthcompany for Mocha Mic with Millie: Juneteenth Renaissance 2026: A Celebration of Art and Poetry Under the Stars✨
Together, we honor Juneteenth the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom in 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. ✊
Join us beneath the summer sky as we celebrate Black artistry, truth-telling, joy, resilience, and community with four incredible features.
Robert Hylton is a New Jersey-based poet, educator, and author with over 30 years of experience using poetry to explore identity, culture, and the immigrant experience.
Valisha Desir, Esq. (@sing_vali) is an Asbury Park, NJ native whose roots in gospel music shaped her love for performance and storytelling.
AVG (@avgpoetry) is a poet, author, and Philly-based creative whose work explores identity, faith, romance, and social issues. ✍
Angiie (@angiie3200) is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist using spoken word, music, and writing to inspire healing and empowerment. ️
Expressions by MowZus will also share reflective visual artwork throughout the evening.
