FOG MACHINE presents KALAYAAN An 80s Freestyle Dance Party at 868 Mission St – San Francisco, CA
??? FOG MACHINE presents KALAYAAN An 80s Freestyle Night for Independence Day & Pride
Pull up to 868 Mission on Friday, June 12 for KALAYAAN four hours of the 80s hits you already know every word to, thrown in the heart of SOMA Pilipinas on Araw ng Kalayaan.
Pop, rock, R&B, new wave, soul and freestyle turned all the way up. The songs that built the decade and still pack a dance floor 40 years later, plus the OPM and Manila Sound that raised a generation of Filipino dance floors.
The 80s you know: Michael Jackson. Madonna. Prince. Whitney. Janet. Lionel Richie. Cyndi Lauper. Tina Turner. The Pointer Sisters. Pet Shop Boys. Salt-N-Pepa.
The freestyle you scream for: Stevie B. Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. Exposé. The Cover Girls. Sweet Sensation. TKA. Company B. Noel.
Every song you know. Every chorus you scream. Back-to-back, all night. No filler. No current hits. No “throwback hour” before going back to whatever’s on the radio. Just four straight hours of 80s gold the way it’s supposed to hit.
The fog machine is on. The lights are pink and neon green. The Philippine flag and the rainbow flag are flying side by side. You’re 17 again.
Craft cocktails poured by people who give a damn. Honest prices. One block from Powell BART, across from the 5th & Mission garage. 21+. All are welcome. Mabuhay.
?????????? Why June 12
June 12 is Araw ng Kalayaan Philippine Independence Day and we’re celebrating it in SOMA Pilipinas, San Francisco’s Filipino Cultural Heritage District. It’s also Pride. So this one’s for the kababayan, the chosen family, the first-timers, and anyone who loves to dance. No separate sections, no labels just one floor, all night. Kalayaan means freedom. Come celebrate it your way.
??? Walk-Ins Welcome Tickets Guarantee Entry
You do not need a ticket to come through. Walk-ins are welcome all night, space permitting and as long as we have not reached capacity.
That said, buying a ticket in advance is the best way to guarantee your entry. As a thank you for helping us plan ahead, all advance ticket holders get a complimentary welcome champagne or shot when they arrive.
Early bird tickets are $10 limited. Prices go up at midnight Thursday and again at the door.

DJ murcutian
A Her DJ Club resident and fixture in SF’s underground, murcutian is best known for genre-blurring sets house, disco, and global club music mixed live with the kind of room-reading you can’t fake. Tonight she’s pointing all of that at one decade and one dance floor: four straight hours of 80s pop, R&B, soul, and freestyle. No laptop autopilot, no Spotify shuffle. A real DJ building a real dance floor.
Expect the bangers. Expect the singalongs. Expect to dance until your calves hurt.
The Vibe
Four hours of straight 80s hits pop, rock, R&B, new wave, freestyle, OPM. No filler, no detours, no cutoffs. Hand-crafted cocktails straight from the bar no table service, no markup, no $22 vodka sodas. A crowd that knows every word to every song and is not shy about it.
Bring your people. Bring your barkada. Bring the tita who still knows every Sharon Cuneta lyric, the cousin who screams every Stevie B chorus, the friend who does the full “Thriller” choreography, and the one who’ll request “Sweet Child O’ Mine” even though it’s 1987.
Dress Code: 80s Encouraged
Come however you feel good but if you want to go for it: leather jackets, denim on denim, big hair, bigger shoulders, neon, lace, fishnets, Wayfarers indoors, a single dangly earring, hoops, red lip, fresh kicks. Flag colors and Pride colors always welcome. Come correct.
