Vulture Tour: Venosa - Apulia, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

The City of Venosa encloses an archaeological area that preserves the monumental remains of the Latin colony of Venusia (founded in 291 B.C.) from the Republican period to the medieval age. There are large public complexes, such as the bathhouse and living quarters, including a domus with mosaics. The majestic backdrop of the route is the Abbey of the Holy Trinity, which has been fully restored, making the different construction phases legible. Important for better understanding the history of the place is the Archaeological Museum of Venosa, housed in the basement walkways of the Aragonese castle built in 1470 by Pirro del Balzo, dedicated to the Latin colony of Venusia.
