Villacidro: Piscina Irgas Waterfall Guided Trek with Tasting – Sardinia, Italy

Join this excursion in the lush hinterland of South Sardinia. You will walk until you reach the Piscina Irgas waterfall located in the heart of the Linas mountain complex within the State Forest of Monti Mannu, on the border between the territories of Villacidro and Domusnovas.
The waterfall is one of the highest on the island with a drop of about 45 m. It originates along the course of the Rio Oridda, a river that runs through the plateau of the same name and then descends down the valley to join the Rio Leni. The surrounding mountains create a natural barrier of granite rock that dominates almost the entire surrounding mountainous area. The route is immersed in Mediterranean scrub and follows watercourses. At the end of the hike, the guide will offer a tasting of local products to end the day in relaxation and enjoy the sounds of nature in an immersive atmosphere.

ITINERARY
The hike covers a distance of about 10 km with passages on granite rock, vegetation and a stony path that presents slight technical difficulties in some passages due to the crossing of the river and the uphill and downhill gradients.
You will enter the holm oak forest passing through the valley where you will admire species such as strawberry trees, heather, junipers, cistus, cork oaks, oleanders, mosses and lichens, until you reach the upper part of Oridda from where you can admire the waterfall from above. You will then descend to the spectacular canyon with its many natural pools and their shape. On the return journey you will walk back along the same path.
The walk will be done at a pace that allows you to admire and immerse yourself in the natural surroundings.

TASTING
A mini-tasting of local cured meats and cheeses with Sardinian civraxiu bread will be served at the end of the trek.
