EXPERIENCE:

This laboratory opened in 1969, with the intention of carrying on the ancient family craft which began in 1926. It is hidden in the Palazzo, where the master painter Tiziano Vecellio lived for 45 years up until his death. In this place full of magic, the art of working gold into thin foils is maintained and practiced.

During your guided visit, you will discover the history of this profession whilst learning about the families that continued the ancient art of Battiloro. You will witness the whole process of turning gold from ingot to leaf, including melting, laminating, and beating. You will then learn of the process that occurs during the cutting and packaging phase.

You will witness this intricate craftsmanship up-close and personally, and will have your guide by your side to field any questions on the history of this profession that might arise throughout your tour.
