We will head west from San Pedro de Atacama, first visiting Yerbas Buenas, an area of great historical importance, as it has one of the largest groups of petroglyphs in the region. Through this place, the indigenous caravans that traveled from the Argentine northeast and the Bolivian Altiplano crossed, and arrived as far as the Pacific Ocean. We will find very different carvings and drawings on the rock, such as llamas, camelids, birds, monkeys and dogs. Next, when crossing Matancilla, we will see the Rainbow Valley, called that way because of the different colors that the mountains have because of of minerals. The earthy, reddish, beige, green, white and yellow colors reveal the different concentrations of salts, clays and minerals. Let’s go for a walk, going through its rock formations and the unique landscape of the place.
