The Concealed Ring and Perugino's Masterpiece. - Umbria, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

In the year in which Perugia celebrates the “best master of Italy,” known as Perugino, this thematic visit takes place, linking the story of the Umbrian artist with that of the precious memorial preserved in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo: the Holy Ring. This object, rich in history and fascination, still manages to speak to all those who, out of faith or curiosity, encounter it and learn about its fascinating history, also thanks to the narration during the visit. Indeed, tradition has it that this small object is the Ring of the Virgin Mary, which arrived in Perugia in 1473 after numerous vicissitudes on the border between reality and legend, between theft and power games. This artifact became, during the Renaissance, an important propeller for city art, so much so that it was the protagonist of “The Marriage of the Virgin,” a marvelous painting by Perugino.
