EXPERIENCE

Day 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA
We leave by bus between 4:45 and 5:30 am towards Mollepata, enjoying panoramic views of the Anta plains and the imposing Salkantay. After having breakfast in Mollepata and making preparations, we headed to Cahllacancha to meet the support team. From there, we begin the walk to Soraypampa, located at 3900 meters above sea level, around 9:30 am, lasting approximately 4 hours. In Soraypampa, we have lunch and then take an afternoon excursion to Humantay Lagoon, 4,200 meters above sea level, which takes about 3 hours round trip from the camp. The day concludes with a comforting dinner at the camp.
Day 2: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – HUAYRAMACHAY – CHAULLAY
El día empieza a las 6:00 am con mate de coca y desayuno. Ascenderemos 6 km hasta el punto más alto del Salkantay (6,264 m), con vistas impresionantes. Alrededor de las 13:00, almuerzo en Huayracmachay. Descenso de 3 horas hasta Chaullay (2900 m) para alojarnos en cabañas indígenas. Cena a las 18:00 para reponer fuerzas tras un día exigente.
Day 3: CHAULLAY | COLLPAPAMPA – LA PLAYA – LUCMABAMBA
At 06:00 AM we will begin our walk to La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley. During the 6-hour journey, we will see lush landscapes, rivers, waterfalls and coffee, banana and avocado plantations. You can try passion fruit and passion fruit. After lunch at La Playa, we will walk to Lucmabamba (2400 meters above sea level), where we will explore a tropical forest and visit an organic coffee farm. Optionally, you can visit the Santa Teresa hot springs by van (50 soles extra).
Day 4: LUCMABAMBA | LLACTAPATA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES
Today we will start early with a hike along a portion of the Inca Trail to Llactapata, an archaeological site with stunning views of Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu, and Machu Picchu Mountain. After exploring, we will descend for 2 hours to the Hidroeléctrica train station to have lunch next to a natural waterfall. We will visit Intiwatana, a rock used as a sundial by the Incas, and then walk along the train tracks towards Aguas Calientes. Optionally, you can take a direct train ($38.00 extra) or walk for 3 hours along a historic trail through the cloud forest.
Day 5: THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY – MACHU PICCHU
Today, we’ll embark on an early exploration of Machu Picchu, aiming to arrive before other tourists for a serene sunrise experience from a unique vantage point. A knowledgeable guide will lead us on a comprehensive 2-hour tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site, delving into its rich history and mystical allure. Afterward, optional climbs of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available for those with pre-booked tickets ($60 USD extra). You’ll have 3 hours to further explore independently before returning to Aguas Calientes. From there, we’ll travel by train to Ollantaytambo and then by minivan to Cusco, concluding at Plaza San Francisco after approximately 6 hours.
