Rome: Private Lunch and Wine Tasting in the Countryside - Rome, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

Start with pickup from your hotel in Rome. Travel to the Frascati region to explore 160 acres of vines surrounding 17th-century architecture and 3rd-century caverns lined with French oak barrels. Your guide will reveal the secrets of traditional winemaking techniques used here from antiquity through to the modern-day. They will explain how Imperial Rome became the cradle of wine culture. And you will also learn why the Nectar of the Gods went from being a status symbol of the elite to a pleasure enjoyed by all.

After enjoying the beauty of the vineyard and learning about the history of the area, embark on a guided tasting of Santa Benedetta’s specially selected wines complemented with a traditional lunch. The lunch consists of a buffet with at least 20 different typical dishes of Roman traditions such as Zucchini, aubergines, peppers, cheeses, rice, and fresh pasta. There will be a plate of homemade pasta alla amatriciana verde, and for dessert, profiteroles. These dishes are all accompanied by local extra virgin olive oil and four local wines.

At the end of the tastings, you will be able to head back to Rome, capturing views of the Roman countryside.
