Rome: 4-Day Rome and Vatican Tour with Hotel Accommodation – Lazio, Italy

EXPERIENCE

Day 1: Check-in to hotel in Rome
Upon arrival at Rome airport or railway station, transfer to the hotel, and spend the night in Rome.

Day 2: Vatican Museums
After breakfast in the hotel, set out to explore the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica. Enjoy a guided tour and skip-the-line -entry tickets. Receive a headset and follow your guide to the Vatican Museum’s entrance.

Tour the gallery, exploring highlights such as the Gallery of Maps, the Gallery of Tapestries, and the Borgia Apartments. Learn everything about the Raphael Rooms and their exceptional frescoes, including The School of Athens.

Next, visit the Sistine Chapel, whose ceiling is one of the cornerstone works of High Renaissance art. Continue to St. Peter’s Basilica to admire several pieces of fine art such as the canopy designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the Pietà by Michelangelo.

To top it off, gaze at St. Peter’s Square, the open space before the Basilica, redesigned by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and an architectural masterpiece of the Baroque age. In the afternoon, you can take a walking tour of Villa Borghese up to the Pincio Belvedere, with a fantastic view of Rome.

After a photo stop, continue toward Piazza del Popolo and Via Margutta, made famous by the film “Roman Holiday” starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Proceed to Piazza di Spagna until you reach the Trevi Fountain.

Marvel at the Galleria Colonna and the inner courtyard of the Galleria Sciarra, and continue to the Church of Sant’Ignazio, the Elephant Obelisk in Piazza della Minerva, and the Pantheon. Near the Pantheon, try some homemade ice cream crafted by the Giolitti family.

Move onward to Piazza Navona, famous for Bernini’s fountain. See Ponte Sant’Angelo, with 10 statues of angels pointing the way to Castel Sant’Angelo. Walk down Via della Conciliazione to the majestic and immense Piazza San Pietro, before concluding your tour.

Day 3: Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill (optional)
Start your day with breakfast and enjoy a free day to explore the city. Alternatively, take an optional excursion. Meet your guide, get your earphones, and get skip-the-line access to the Colosseum.

See the place where Rome was founded and where Roman emperors used to live. Enjoy a stunning view of the city from Palatine Hill. At the Roman Forum, feel the pulsating heart of ancient Roman life, and see some very well-preserved ruins of that time.

Day 4: Departure from Rome
After breakfast in the hotel, transfer to the airport or railway station to end the tour.
