Punta Tombo Shore Excursion only for Cruise Passengers - Chubut, Argentina

EXPERIENCE

In this excursion, we will visit the largest Magellanic Penguin reserve in South America. The journey begins by leaving the city and taking National Route No. 3, which, after passing the city of Trelew, leads to a detour connecting to Provincial Route No. 1 and eventually reaching the natural reserve. It is a 170 km journey to Punta Tombo from Puerto Madryn, showcasing the vast Patagonian aridness along the way. Upon arrival, we find an interesting Interpretation Center dedicated to the various stages of the Penguin’s life cycle and its natural environment. At this point, the most exciting part of the journey begins, allowing you to walk among penguins along a 1.5-kilometer trail starting in the Patagonian steppe and reaching the coastal area where the penguins come from the sea to the continent. Here, they refurbish their nests every year, fulfilling their reproductive cycle and raising their chicks. The expanse of the colony, filled with nests everywhere, is a unique sight in the world that few are fortunate enough to experience. It’s worth mentioning that the penguins peacefully coexist with small rodents, kelp gulls, and occasionally receive visits from guanacos and choiques. After completing the tour, we begin the return to the city. This tour is exclusive for cruise passengers arriving in Puerto Madryn, and we guarantee to return you to the cruise ship on time.
