Make Your Own Fireplace Sweeper at a Traditional Workshop – Normandy, France

EXPERIENCE

During our workshop, you will make your own sorghum straw brush/broom, which will then belong to you at no extra cost.

You will be a real artisan Sweeper for 3 hours.

We will meet in our workshop where you can see our products and the materials used to make our brushes and brooms. Marie-Laure and Arnaud will be with you throughout the time to guide you and will give you the straw of several colors and the necessary threads and tools. It is also very fun for children.

At the beginning we will provide an overview of the history of brooms in France and the materials necessary for their manufacture.

You will learn all about this lovely tradition and how these traditional brooms/brushes at the beginning were made for and by humble people and nowadays mark the trend in fashion for a zero waste, practical and pretty home.

So each guest of our workshops will choose the colors of the straw, the sewing threads, the style of the broom, and possibly the handle if it is a broom.

So, you will make your own brush/broom, and you will learn how to take care of your broom to keep it for a very long time.

It’s fun and doesn’t present any difficulty. With our help, you will have created your own “zero waste brush”.

Finally each host will leave with their own creation and a great story to tell their friends. A really simple creation for our visitors to make, and which will bring them joy in their daily tasks for a long time.

Other remarks

Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in this type of manufacturing, the process is quite easy, no prior knowledge is necessary. We will lead the entire experience and you will leave with a beautiful hand-made dustpan/broom
