EXPERIENCE

Lower Manhattan

Meeting Point: At the Charging Bull, near 26 Broadway

Here, as much as anywhere, American history started. It’s where the first US Congress assembled and produced the Bill of Rights and where President George Washington took his first oath of office. Here is where the world’s most important stock exchange and one of the most famous ladies stand. It is here that an unspeakable tragedy took place and a rebirth is underway.

Sites we cover in Lower Manhattan:

The Charging Bull
Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty*
Battery Park
Governors Island*
Federal Hall
Wall Street
New York Stock Exchange
Trinity Church
Zuccotti Park (Occupy Wall Street site)
St. Paul’s Chapel
World Trade Center
911 Memorial
Woolworth Building
City Hall
Fraunces Tavern
and much more!
We then take a ferry to Brooklyn.
DUMBO – From the promenade, we will walk down to the ferry landing area and explore a small part of DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Once a manufacturing and industrial district, economic change sapped the area of its economic strength, leaving it large and vacant factory lofts as attractive destinations for artists starving for large and affordable living space. The neighborhoods unique urban landscape is the partially the result of being below two bridges, an interesting sight to see.

We walk across the bridge (1.6 miles), but we will be making plenty of stops to talk about the history and design of the bridge and to have the opportunity to capture scenic photographs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New York Harbor. The bridge lets out in on or Brooklyn s finest residential neighborhoods, filled with interesting people and architecture. Nicknamed America s first suburb, Brooklyn Heights will certainly amaze.

Lunch not included. We will stop at TimeOut Market Brooklyn
