In the morning, we leave Bangkok for our day trip to the ancient capitals of Ayutthaya and Lopburi.

Ayutthaya, a kingdom that existed from 1350 to 1767, is a fantastic destination for culture lovers. Your guide will show you the of a city that was once the capital of the nation of Siam (the former name of Thailand), which roughly occupied the territory of modern Thailand. You ll learn how the kingdom came to its final end in 1767, when the Burmese army invaded the country, burned Ayutthaya to the ground, and forced the inhabitants to abandon the city.

Since 1991, Ayutthaya has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its impressive ruins take you back to the glory days of the ancient kingdom.

Next, you ll drive to Lopburi famous for its monkey residents! One of Thailand s oldest cities, the city has been inhabited continuously since the Dvaravati era. During the 10th century, Lopburi became part of the Khmer empire that was expanding towards the West. Your guide will show you a variety of impressive monuments built by the Khmers, many of which still stand tall today.

After exploring these amazing sites, you ll return to central Bangkok in time for the evening.
