Hurricane Canal: a historic walk above town and Three Falls - Hurricane, Utah
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE

The story of the Hurricane Canal is the foundation story of the city of Hurricane itself. Without the water the canal provided, there would be no Hurricane. The canal took more than 11 years to build. It was constructed large with picks, shovels and black powder. As you explore the Hurricane Canal on this guided hike, you will see a few different portions of the canal (some intact and some, not-so-intact) as well as tunnels and a flume – a bridge for water. You’ll gain an appreciation for the pioneers of this area, who built the canal with no public financing and no wealthy benefactor. The payoff of this hike is Three Falls, which is a beautiful pocket of red rock scenery just east of Hurricane.
