EXPERIENCE

Samtskhe-Javakheti is a unique region where you can appreciate the diverse cultural heritage of our country. You will stroll through an impressive cave complex that once housed an ancient city and monastery. You will also explore the reconstructed Rabati Fortress and be transported back to the times of Ottoman conquests. Additionally, you will walk through the picturesque town of Borjomi.

What Awaits You

Borjomi
We will take a walk along an unconventional route. You will see the mineral water springs named after Ekaterina and Evgeny Goloviny, the summer residence of Mirza Riza-khan—the Persian ambassador to the Russian Empire, and the monument to the Georgian Prometheus—Amiran, in the Borjomi National Park. You will have free time to explore the park and its historical buildings.

Vardzia
You will explore the 12th-century cave monastery complex of Vardzia. Along the way, you will come across a wine cellar and ancient kvevris, a well-preserved aqueduct, meeting halls, and the royal box. On the top floor, you will see a church with frescoes of Queen Tamar and her father, George III. You will visit the holy spring, admire the view of the terraced vineyards, and pass through a secret tunnel.

Rabati
In the town of Akhaltsikhe is located the Rabati Fortress, formerly known as Lomsia. The guide will tell you the history of the 9th-century citadel, which once belonged to the great Jakeli princes.
