EXPERIENCE:

This 8-day cycling tour takes you on a discovery of Piedmont, one of the most beautiful regions in Italy. Depart from Turin and enjoy the special experience of cycling along rivers, through parks, and on cycle paths to many small towns in the region. Admire the spectacular scenery and enjoy the prestigious wines, fantastic food, and delicious chocolate in Piedmont.

Day 1: Arrival in Turin
Arrive in Turin, the first capital city of Italy. The former industrial city now, after the 2006 Winter Olympics, has revealed itself as a cultural city. With 4 rivers, there are many cycle paths for you to enjoy.

Day 2: Turin – Pinerolo (45 kilometers)
The way is flat. From Turin you cycle along the Po river on cycle paths and small roads to the foot of the mountains. You arrive at the hunting palace of Stupinigi, the royal residence of the Savoy family, a masterpiece of the architect Filippo Juvarra in rococo style. Then park by park, always cycling along the rivers, you get to Pinerolo in a very pleasant way. Stay overnight in Pinerolo, where there was once one of the most famous schools of cavalry in Italy.

Day 3: Pinerolo – Cavour – Saluzzo (55 kilometers)
The way is flat. Along country roads crossing orchards and vineyards, you get to Cavour with its curious “Rocca”, a moraine hill just in the middle of the flat, protected area. During the day, in the small castle of Macello, you will taste some typical food of Piedmont. Stay overnight in the medieval town of Saluzzo.

Day 4: Saluzzo – Fossano – Benevagienna – Bra (60 kilometers)
Today the way is also medium/easy – there are some easy ascents after Fossano. On the way you can visit the very pleasant castles of Manta and Costigliole, the ancient roman town of Benevagienna and its archeological area. After Cherasco, you arrive in Bra, the capital of gourmet and hometown of the “Slow Food” movement.

Day 5: Bra – Pollenzo – Barolo – Alba (45 kilometers)
Today the way is medium/easy in Langhe area. In Pollenzo, the roman Pollentia, you visit the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Here you taste good wine before cycling to Alba along the river Tanaro. The path is perfectly flat but in the middle of the way you ascend to Barolo, where we can taste the wine in the castle. Stay overnight in Alba, the town of white truffle and high towers

Day 6: Alba – Asti (45 kilometers)
Today the way is medium/easy in the Roero area. On the way you visit the castles of Guarene and Cisterna. Stay overnight in Asti, a town with a rich history, famous for the white wine “spumante” and its Palio race.

Day 7: Asti – Casale Monferrato(60 kilometers)
Today the way is medium difficulty. You cycle on the charming hills of the Monferrato, another part of the gourmet system. From Moncalvo you can enjoy a very pleasant view on the surrounding vineyards. In the afternoon, after a final taste in an “agriturismo”, you reach Casale, a town at the foot of the hills of Monferrato, along the river Po.
