Discover the fascinating Pellumbas Cave, also known as the Black Cave, nestled near Pellumbas village in Albania. Our journey begins with a scenic 35-minute car ride from Tirana to Pellumbas village, where we’ll embark on a memorable hiking adventure. The well-marked path, of moderate difficulty, winds through a captivating landscape that includes lush forests, the tranquil Erzen River, the majestic Dajti Mountain, and breathtaking vistas of Tirana city.

As we trek to the cave, soaking in the natural beauty, the journey takes approximately 1 hour. Upon reaching the cave entrance, we’ll pause briefly to catch our breath before venturing inside. The cave’s interior is expansive, resembling an underground mine. Illuminating our way with torches, we’ll marvel at its unique and mesmerizing features. Pellumbas Cave is renowned in Europe for its six well-defined karst galleries, and it sits at an elevation of 350 meters, forming a tunnel that stretches an impressive 70-80 meters in length.

Following your exploration of Pellumbas Cave, embark on a scenic 35-minute drive to Petrela Castle, a historic fortress nestled 12 kilometers south of Tirana. With roots tracing back to the 4th century AD, this well-preserved castle boasts impressive stone walls and towers, offering visitors a glimpse into medieval Albanian military architecture.
