From Sorrento: Pompeii Group Guided Tour – Sorrento, Italy

EXPERIENCE:

Pompeii is now considered one of the world’s most important historical sites due to the way the volcanic ash preserved the city and its people. This gives historians and archaeologists a vivid picture of what life in the Roman Empire was like around 2,000 years ago. The first excavations were in the 18th century, and following 250 years about 75% of the town has been dug out.

Your tour will begin with your pickup from your meeting point in Sorrento, from where you will be transferred by bus to Pompeii. Following your arrival in Pompeii, you will begin a guided visit of 2 hours which will show you the main public monuments and some of the homes of the Pompeii ruins.

Accompanied by an authorized guide, explore the main features of the ancient city including the baths, bakeries, and theaters (just to name a few). Walk the streets and see shops and houses that were once alive with people, color, and noise. This will help you receive a rare peek at what everyday life in a small wealthy town was like in 79 A.D. At the conclusion of the visit, you will receive some free time before you return to Sorrento by bus at approximately 1:00PM.
