From Cusco: Waqra Pukara Trek with Lunch - Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Grab your trekking gear and venture to Waqra Pukara, enjoying excellent views and pristine landscapes as you go. Take pictures of the giant stone formations of the ceremonial center and explore this pre-Inca site know as the “forest of stone.”

The day begins with pickup from your accommodation between 3:30-4:00 AM. Travel for 2 hours to the Pitumarca District where the group will stop for breakfast. Return to the van for a 30-minute drive to the starting point. After a 10-minute briefing with the guide, begin the trek to Waqra Pukara. 

Trek over flat roads with intermittent hills for approximately 2 hours, passing beautiful landscapes dotted with cochas (Andean Lagoons), then descend to reach the Waqra Pukara Viewpoint. Take stunning photos of the Waqra Pukara Archaeological Complex then descend about 40 minutes to reach the ceremonial center.

Admire the gigantic stone formations around the site and view the Apurimac River Valley below. Take 1.5 hours to visit the Waqra Pukara ceremonial center and take a group photo before returning to the starting point along the same trail. 

Meet the driver for the 2-hour return transfer and arrive at the main square in the City of Cusco between 6:00-7:00 PM.
