From Cusco: Humantay and Short Inca Trail to Mapi 3D/2N – Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata- Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon

• The trip from Cusco begins at 4:30 in the morning.
• Pick up at your accommodation.
• After 2.5 hours by car, we arrived at Mollepata for breakfast.
• Then, a 45-minute drive takes us to Soraypampa, 3,870 meters above sea level, where we camp.
• From Soraypampa, a walk of approximately 1.5 hours begins towards the beautiful Humantay Lagoon.
• The lagoon surprises with its turquoise color and the majestic views of the Humantay and Salkantay mountains.
• After enjoying this impressive place, we begin our return to Soraypampa.
• Then, we headed back to Mollepata for lunch.
• Finally, we arrived in the city of Cusco around 6 pm.

Day 2: Ollantaytambo – km 104 – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

• The short Inca Trail tour to Machu Picchu begins with pickup at your hotel or lodge around 4:00 am.
• One and a half hour trip to Ollantaytambo, where we stop for breakfast.
• Then, we go to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where we board the train that takes us to Km 104, the starting point of our walk.
• We begin a 4-hour uphill walk until we reach the Inca site of Wiñaywayna.
• Then, we continue the walk for an hour and a half until we reach Intipunku, where we will get the first panoramic views of Machu Picchu.
• We continue walking until we reach the iconic place to take the classic photo of the ancient citadel.
• We descend to the main entrance and board a bus that takes us to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night.
• In Aguas Calientes, you will have time to relax at the hotel before dinner and plan the final visit to the Machu Picchu citadel the next day.

Day 3: Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco

• On the second day, you have two options to visit Machu Picchu:
• 1.5 hour walk from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu through a path with stairs.
• Take a 25-minute bus to Machu Picchu.
• If you want to witness the sunrise in the Inca city.
• Once at Machu Picchu, you’ll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of this historic site, followed by free time to explore on your own.
• Starting at 3:30 pm, we meet at a restaurant in Aguas Calientes for our last lunch.
• After lunch, you will receive your train tickets for your return trip to Cusco.
