  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

Day 1: Cusco – Huchuy Qosqo – Chinchero
Drive for around 20 minutes from Cusco to Sacsayhuaman, where your horses await you. Once at Sacsayhuaman, get to know your horses before setting off on the 3 to 4-hour ride to the Queullacocha lagoon, where you will enjoy your pack lunch.

Next, make your way to Chinchero, an Andean village that sits on top of a high plain with sweeping views of snow-capped peaks, at an altitude of 3800 meters. Enjoy time to rest, relax, and eat dinner.

Turn in for an early night in your room.

Day 2: Chinchero – Huchuy Qosco – Lamay – Cusco
Get up early for an exciting day of adventure with 4-5 hours of horse riding and hiking. Wrapped up warm, equipped for riding and hiking, and with your helmet on, you’re ready to go.

Lead your horse down a 3-hour trail to Pukamarca. From here you will leave the horses behind to hike a section of the famous Inca trail for 45-minutes that leads up to the Huchuy Qosqo ruins at 3600 meters. Make sure to take a breather and take in the spectacular Leon Punku, or Lion’s Mouth, canyon views on your way.

Enjoy a snack at Huchuy Qosqo as you listen to your local guide tell you the rich Inca history of the region. After this part, start your descent towards the town of Lamay, famous for its Cuy al Palo, or roasted guinea pig.

Have a short rest after lunch here, and your transportation will meet you for an approximately 1-hour drive back to Cusco. Get dropped back off at your accommodation in Cusco.
