From Cusco : Hike 5 Days Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Day01 : Cusco – Piscacucho – Wayllabamba :
We’re picked up early from our hotels, taking a bus for just over three hours. We pass through charming villages like Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo until we reach kilometer 82, the trail’s actual starting point.Guided by porters, our trek begins through semi-arid terrain along the Urubamba River valley. Enjoying breathtaking views of the snowcapped mountain Veronica (20,200′), we cross the Vilcanota River ,Encountering the Inca ruins of Huillca Raccay. A simple descent leads us to the Cusichaca River.Continuing for 7 km along the river’s left bank, we reach the village of Wayllabamba (3,000m).

Day02 : Wayllabamba – LLulluchapampa – Pacaymayu :
After a tasty breakfast, ascending to the formidable Warmihuañusca (“Dead Woman’s Pass”) at 4,200 meters. This highest point on the Inca Trail offers a breathtaking Andean panorama. The trail continues alongside a mountain stream, showcasing hummingbirds and a captivating stunted cloud forest. We pass the scenic Llulluchapampa grassy area at 3,680 meters with stunning valley views. Following lunch, we descend to the Pacaymayu Valley, where we set up our second camp.

Day03 : Pacaymayu – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñayhuayna :
From Pacamayo, a one-hour climb leads to the enchanting ruins of Runkuracay, a 45-minute trek brings you to the summit of the second pass, Abra de Runkuracay, standing at an elevation of 4,000 meters. Caution is advised during the descent from the pass, as the steps are steep. you’ll reach Sayacmarca, accessible via a meticulously designed stone staircase. The name, meaning ‘Inaccessible Town,’ aptly captures the ruins’ location, protected by sheer cliffs on three sides, passing Conchamarca, a small Inca dwelling shadowed by Sayacmarca, Ascending to the third pass at 3,700 meters, the panoramic view reveals snow-capped peaks, including Salkantay (6,271m) and Veronica (5,750m). A short distance from the pass lies Phuyupatamarca, the most remarkable Inca ruin encountered thus far, translating to ‘Town in the Clouds.

Day04 : Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu :
After a sunrise view of Salcantay and Veronica, we bid farewell to our porters with a traditional song. The final hike leads through Inca stairways to Winay Wayna and then Inti Punku, the gateway to Machu Picchu. After exploring the ruins, we bus down to Machu Picchu Village. In the late morning, we enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu and have the option to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Those seeking relaxation can unwind in the hot springs of Aguas Calientes.

Day05 : Machu Picchu – Huaynapicchu – Cusco :
After an early Breakfast ,climb of Huayna Picchu. If you were so tired yesterday then you have plenty of time to really capture Machu Picchu today so start out early! Buses are available from 5.30am. In the afternoon, we board the train for an exhilarating ride along the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Once at the terminal, our bus whisks us back to Cusco and your hotel.
