From Cusco: Guided Day Hike to Humantay Lake with Meals – Cusco, Peru

Start with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 am. Then, drive to Mollepata, to stop for a delicious breakfast and enjoy the mountains in the morning light. Once you are full, continue to Soraypampa, where you will begin to feel the powerful presence of the glaciers. After listening to brief instructions from your guide, begin the 2-hour ascent to the beautiful Humantay Lake.

Keep in mind that you will be walking on very rocky terrain, so using a walking stick is a great idea. Take your time, walk slowly, get some rest, and try to drink plenty of fluids; it will be at a high altitude, so you should take things slow.

Itinerary:

Walk uphill and then see the Humantay Lake appear from the rocky landscape. Admire this beautiful body of turquoise water, which originates from the same snow that covers the mountain, and which melts and drains away. Hike to go a bit higher up the surrounding rocky slopes for better views. Understand why the mountains are so sacred in the Andean culture.

Spend about an hour and a half going downhill to return to Soraypampa, where you will head back to the town of Mollepata to enjoy a spectacular buffet lunch. Then you will board your transport back to Cusco.
