From Cusco: 5-Day Classic Salkantay Treks to Machu Picchu – Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Day01 : Travel from Cusco to the Quiswarniyoc Private Camp for an exploration of Soraypampa and Humantay Lake :
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotels or locations in Cusco around 5:00 am. Departing from Cusco at 5:30 am, we Begin our trek from Mollepata, embarking on a captivating journey. Take in the breathtaking views of the majestic Humantay snow-capped peak during a scenic hike. Explore the beauty of Laguna de Humantay with insights from our knowledgeable guide. As the day unfolds, enjoy a delightful “tea time” at Soraypampa camp,

Day02 : Soraypampa to Salkantay Pass, then proceed to Huayraqmachay and Chaullay :
Embark on a trek to the tour’s pinnacle, Salkantay Pass, where you can marvel at breathtaking views. Descend to Huayraqmachay and journey onward to the town of Chaullay, witnessing ecological and geographical transformations. Take in the diverse flora, fauna, and bird species that grace your path.

Day03 : Trek from Chaullay to Colpapampa, then proceed to Sahuayaco and finally reach Lucmabamba :
Discover the elevated jungle region as you descend through Colpapampa and Sahuayaco. Experience hot springs, orchids, and waterfalls while noting the shifts in climate and vegetation. Upon reaching Lucmabamba, savor lunch and take advantage of free time to explore the surrounding areas.

Day04 : Hike from Lucmabamba to Hydroelectric, and then continue to Aguas Calientes :
Trek to Hydroelectric and proceed on foot to the town of Aguas Calientes. You have the option to explore the Mandor botanical gardens and waterfalls along the route.

Day05 : Machu Picchu to Cusco :
Embark on an early morning trek to Machu Picchu for a memorable sunrise. Take a guided tour of the main temples and palaces within the citadel. Explore Machu Picchu at your leisure, and if you choose, consider the optional climb of Huaynapicchu. Return to Cusco via train and car, with an estimated arrival around 8:00 pm.
