From Cusco: 2-Day Overnight Misminay Community Tour – Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Day 1:
Start with pickup at 7:00 AM from your hotel and travel to the village of Maras. En route, you can appreciate the beauty of the Sacred Valley. Make a brief stop at the Raqchi viewpoint where you will see the imposing snow-capped mountains of Chicon, Salkantay, and Veronica.

Arrive at Maras and visit Las Salineras, where you can take in the spectacular sight of its 3,000 individual salt pools on the hillside. These pools have been used to harvest salt since Incan times. Later, visit the circular farming terraces of Moray, also dating back to the Incas.

Arrive at the community of Misminay, where you will be greeted by traditional music and dancing. Enjoy a traditional lunch with the local people. Afterwards, be guided to the viewpoint of the mountain of Waninmarca. Be enchanted by the fantastic views of Moray and the Sacred Valley. Return to the village for dinner, and a night of traditional stories and legends by the fireside.

Day 2:
Rise early in the morning to enjoy a nutritious breakfast of various local Andean products and cereals. After breakfast, take part in agricultural activities such as plowing or harvesting in the fields.

Learn about the elaborate textile garments woven with ancestral techniques. Enjoy a hearty Andean stew for lunch, made will products grown locally, before saying goodbye to the locals and returning to your hotel in Cusco.
