From Arequipa: Sillar Route – Half Day Excursion – Arequipa Region, Peru

EXPERIENCE

Pick up from your accommodation in downtown Arequipa at approximately 8:50 a.m. to begin our excursion along the Ruta del Sillar, a road full of history. First, we will visit a viewpoint with impressive views of the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, and then we will continue our tour.

Discover the secrets of the sillar: Our first stop will be at the Añashuayco Quarry, where we will observe the masons in action and learn about the stone carving process. We will also contemplate the imposing canyon of cliffs created by the extraction of the material.

Venture into the Quebrada de Culebrillas: After leaving Añashuayco, we will travel for about 30 minutes until we reach the Quebrada de Culebrillas. Enjoy a 20-minute walk through this canyon with walls up to 20 meters high.

Last stop: We will explore the mysterious petroglyphs carved in the canyon’s stone, whose interpretations are still unknown.

Return to Arequipa: We will arrive to the city at 13:00 hrs approximately to conclude our excursion.
