Florence: Boboli The Medici Gardens & Hidden Messages - Florence, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

Get lost in the woods. On this itinerary, discover the gardens designed for Cosimo I de Medici in 1562 which became a model for the European royal gardens. Boboli, with its green architectures, statues, fountains, terraces and grottoes, is the first park in Europe where works of art hide meanings and allegories.

On your 1.5-hour  guided walking tour, you will hear about the stories and myths of the gods and heroes, imagined and represented by artists from many periods, from ancient Roman to contemporary. Among these are the sculptures of Hercules, of Demeter and the Spartan King Tyndareus, the Fountains of the Artichoke and of Neptune, the Secret Garden and the Tunnel of Love.

In the purest italian style, the gardens consist of several kilometers of rich vegetation and great fountains. You will go to the top of the gardens where it is possible to admire a spectacular panoramic view of the city of Florence.
