Florence: Accademia Gallery Guided Tour with an Art Expert - Florence, Italy
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

The Accademia Gallery is world-renowned for housing the authentic Michelangelo’s David statue, probably the most famous statue in the world.
The long lines to enter this museum usually last for hours, and this is the only tour that will give you the opportunity to be among the very first to enter the museum, skipping the long lines and mostly avoiding the noisy crowds usually found inside.
David was sculpted by a very young Michelangelo (who was in his twenties at the time) entirely from a single block of local Carrara marble.
It represents the biblical hero David that killed Goliath, and when it was unveiled in 1504, it soon came to symbolize the defense of the civil liberties embodied in the Florentine Republic.
Your art expert will reveal all the secrets about David, as well as other masterpieces hosted in this museum. Whilst in the gallery, you will also be able to admire Michelangelo’s famously unfinished sculptures, Prigioni and San Matteo.
The Accademia Gallery also houses many other masterpieces, both paintings and sculptures, ranging from the Middle Ages through to the Renaissance.
You will encounter works by great artists such as Botticelli, Paolo Uccello, Andrea del Sarto, and many more.
At the conclusion of your tour, you can choose to either exit the museum or remain inside to continue visiting on your own for as long as you desire.
With this option, join a small group with a maximum of 15 people and be among the first visitors to enter the museum on your chosen day.
