Flagstaff & Sedona: LOWER Antelope Canyon Day Trip - Lower Antelope Canyon, Arizona
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE

Leaving Sedona, your journey will begin by enjoying Oak Creek Canyon, one of the prettiest roads in the US. Towering Red Rocks will be surrounding you on this 12-mile drive. You will pass Slide Rock State Park, the movie set for the 1950 western “Broken Arrow”, with Jimmy Stuart and Jeff Chandler. After reaching the top of the Colorado Plateau you will be driving through the second largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the World, second only to the one in Russia, Siberia.

Heading north on Hwy 89 we will go through the Painted Desert, which was named on an expedition led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado on his 1540 quest to find the seven cities of Cibola which were supposedly made out of pure gold. Traveling through this colorful desert you will also see the Vermillion Cliffs, which are like the Painted Desert part of the Navajo Nation (Dine’tah). You will learn about the history, folklore, and ways of life of these people since it is one of the biggest Tribal Nations in the United States. After arriving in Page, Arizona you will have the opportunity to do a 1.5-mile hike to the “Horseshoe Bend” overlook, to take pictures of the Colorado River below you. This is one of the most photographed views in the world. With a little luck, you might see some river rafts going down the Colorado.

View the stunning images of the Navajo Nation, Glen Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Lower Antelope Canyon on this full-day trip. Highlights include visiting two of the most stunning Southwest vistas, both Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon. You will walk out to Horseshoe Bend, which sits above the winding Colorado River, to get amazing photos and see why this vista got its name. In the afternoon, you will be astounded by the views in Lower Antelope Canyon, which change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. You will experience the beautiful color palette on the sandstone walls at the best time of day. This slot canyon provides an amazing palette for changing light patterns throughout the day. Guest must be able to navigate steep stairs and narrow passageways. This tour requires a minimum of four passengers to operate. No Children under 6 years old; No dogs or service dogs permitted. Please advise if anyone in your party is taller than 6 feet (183 cm) or more than 250 pounds (113 kg).
