Everglades National Park: Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Eco-Tour - Fort Myers, Florida
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE

The Everglades area is home to a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. The unique Everglades lakes, surrounded by mangroves, are refuges and nursery grounds for herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills, alligators, otters, and a variety of cute little fish.

The Everglades National Park Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Eco-Tour takes you inside the unique mangrove ecosystem in a stable “sit-on-top” kayak (no previous experience required). Weave through the interconnecting, narrow lakes and flowing tidal creeks. Float through tunnels in the mangrove forest, created by the dense mangrove growth up the edges and even over the tops of the interlocking creeks and narrow lakes.

The mangrove tunnels make for a surreal and mystical experience with the sunlight shimmering through the canopy, the stillness of the forest vegetation and the sounds of the forest itself. Enjoy learning a wealth of information on the colorful local history of Everglades National Park and its wonderful wildlife and flora.
