Etna North: Unique private hike experience to the summit – Sicily, Italy

EXPERIENCE:

Challenge yourself with a climb up the north side of Mount Etna on a guided hiking tour to see the summit craters. Depart from Piano Provenzana to discover the wonderful landscapes as you trek. Take breaks along the way to capture unique photos of the summit craters.

Meet your guide, strap on your hiking boots and get ready for your trekking tour. Then, hop into a Jeep and take a drive up to Piano delle Concazze, which sits at an altitude of 2,825 mt (cost of the Jeep transfer not included).

From here, you’ll begin your ascent of about 2h. Follow your guide as you trek to an elevation of 3,340 meters to see the summit craters. Walk through lunar-like lava fields and discover a landscape rich in history and geological peculiarities.

After walking on the edge of summit, begin your descent towards Piano delle Concazze and then towards the Pizzi Deneri Observatory.

Take a breath and marvel at panoramic views of the Valle del Bove and the Valle del Leone before embarking on the final leg of your trek, your descent back to the starting point in Piano Provenzana.
