Ek’Balam Mayan Ruins Full-Day Tour with Cenote Trip & Lunch – Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

The archaeological site of Ek’Balam is one of the most impressive ceremonial centers of the Yucatan Peninsula. Here, you will witness the incredible decoration of temples and plazas. Admire the unique sculptures in high relief that have surprised archaeologists and visitors alike. These sculptures support the recently restored Jaguar Mouth sculpture in the front of the main temple. Walk through the ball game (Pok Ta Pok) and the false arch, both are architectural icons of the Maya culture.

Head to Cenote Hubiku or Xcajum cenote which is an impressive sinkhole where you can admire incredible rock formations and swim in this large and fresh natural pool. Ascend from the underworld through a tunnel or use the large wooden staircase. Some optional activities here include swimming and diving. 

You’ll then head to a Mayan hut to learn about the architecture of the region and take part in a Mayan ritual which is an authentic blessing Maya ceremony that a shaman will perform for you. You’ll end the tour with a delicious and traditional lunch with a Mayan menu including soup, chicken, vegetables, rice, beans and hand-made corn tortillas. Then, head back to your Cancun hotel.
