Douro wine valley : Daytrip with scenic view and options - Norte Region, Portugal
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE

We leave Porto by around 9 am ( I am flexible about the departure time) using the motorway for most of the way which passes partly through the scenic Vinho Verde wine growing region of northern Portugal and the longest Tunnel of the country up in the mountains of mar?o.
Upon reaching the Douro valley, our first stop is a local vineyard where you have the option of a guided tour along with wine tasting (own expense). If you wish to visit one more vineyard or have any particular preference with regard to visit, please let me know so that the required reservations could be done in advance.
At this time, you can take break to purchase lunch in one of the restaurants in Pinh?o.
Our next possible option is a 2-hour boat cruise (own expense) on the Douro river from Pinh?o to Tua and back on a traditional rabelo boat. Leaves pinh?o at 14.30.
On your return we proceed to Peso da Regua, where you could visit the Douro museum (own expense), the town and the old railway station where an old steam train still runs. Conclude your day trip and begin the trip back to Porto
