EXPERIENCE:

Listen to poems by Francis Jammes, in and around Chrestia House. In the shade of the cedars or in the rooms of the house, enjoy his simple, delicate poetry, full of nature, country life and mysticism.

The poet born in the Hautes-Pyrénées, also a novelist, playwright and critic settled from 1897 to 1907 in the Chrestia House, today the headquarters of the Francis Jammes Association.

Francis Jammes lived mainly in Béarn and the Basque Country, where he drew his inspiration. He liked the calm of the countryside but still rubbed shoulders with many writers of his time, such as Paul Claudel, and of his region, such as Paul-Jean Toulet. But all this, you will learn much better by coming to discover the house of the writer, rich in documents, paintings and photographs.

You can even ask all your questions to the volunteers of the association, after Thérèse’s declamation.

Course of the activity:

1. The artist will meet you in front of the Chrestia house. She will be recognizable by her yellow raincoat.

2. Once everyone has arrived, you will enter the house guided by the artist.

3. You will be able to sit on the seats present or on those you have brought.

4. For those of you who have taken the tasting option, the artist will serve a glass of fruit juice or Jurançon. If you have not taken the option and wish to taste, you can help yourself and put the amount of the tasting in a box provided for this purpose.

5. The artist will then take 5 minutes to introduce their show, put it into context and explain how it resonates with the place you are visiting

6. The artist will give you 5 minutes during which you can internalize yourself and she will take the opportunity to prepare

7. The artist will play the show in the house and around the house, so you will have to move around to follow her.

8. At the end of the show, take 5 minutes of silence to make it resonate within you and enjoy the landscape around you in a renewed way.

9. The artist will be at your disposal to answer your questions and share with you to the extent of his availability, as will the volunteers of the Francis Jammes association. If you feel like it, you can buy some souvenirs or books.
