EXPERIENCE

Explore the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve on a 4-day tour from Quito. Stay in the Tucan Lodge, a comfortable eco-lodge located on the Cuyabeno River. Enjoy guided hikes, canoe trips, and cultural experiences with the local Siona community.

Day 1: Quito – Cuyabeno
Start your adventure at the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve. Take a canoe trip down the river to the Tucan Lodge. After lunch, explore the river and lagoons looking for more wildlife, swim, and enjoy the sunset. At night, go on a canoe expedition in search of caimans.

Day 2: Hiking Day
After breakfast, go on a hike in the primary forest with your naturalist guide. Learn about medicinal plants, frogs, insects, birds, and more. After lunch, explore the streams in a traditional rowing canoe. Enjoy the sunset in the river and if conditions permit, you may be able to see pink dolphins. Return to the lodge and get ready for a night walk.

Day 3: Community Visit
Visit the Siona Community and see the preparation of their traditional bread, Casabe. Learn about the customs and traditions of the native people. After lunch, visit the Shaman, who will talk to you about the ceremonies in the jungle.

Day 4: Cuyabeno – Quito
Early in the morning, explore the river in search of birds and to enjoy the sunrise. After breakfast, take the canoe back to the entrance of the reserve. Keep an eye out for more fauna along the way. Return to Quito.
