Cusco : Walk to Ausangate + Rainbow Mountain for 2 days. – Cusco, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Day 1: Cusco – Checacupe – Ausangate Viewpoint – Pucacocha – Anta

Our tour starts by picking you up from your accommodation where you are staying (preferably within the historic centre of Cusco) between 4:30 and 5:00 am. We will board our private transport to the town of Checacupe with a travel time of approximately 2 hours, where we can appreciate the ancient bridges: Inca, Colonial and Republican, then we will continue our journey towards Queyouno (4,326 meters above sea level).

We will start our trek to Hampatuyoc or Ausangate and Pucacocha viewpoint with 1 hour and a half of walk approx. Where we will enjoy a delicious lunch, we will continue our journey for 3 and a half hours to Anta camp (4,885 masl). We will have tea time in the afternoon near the Ausangate glacier and the Winicunca chain, you will have free time to rest.

Day 2 : Winicunca Pass, Coloured Mountain – Cusco

On this day we will enjoy the best views of the Montaña de Colores and the whole Winicunca mountain range. Very early with the first rays of sun, after our breakfast we will walk through the reddish mountains to the Winicunca pass (5,020 m.a.s.l.) and the first spectacular views of the Montaña de Colores, full of a magical and mystic landscape. We will start to descend to the other side of the mountain where we will have incredible views of glacier peaks, lakes and mountains.
At the end of the hike our transport will be waiting to take us to the designated place where we will enjoy lunch. Finally we will return to the city of Cusco.
