Cusco South Valley: Tour Tipón, Pikillacta, Andahuaylillas - Cusco, Peru
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

Explore three Andean attractions, starting with a visit to the archaeological site of Tipón, where you’ll learn about the ingenious engineering and spiritual practices of the Incas. Next, explore the ruins of Pikillacta (the Flea Town). Finally, stop in the town of Andahuaylillas and visit the Church of San Pedro, also known as the “Sistine Chapel of America.”

On this day, you’ll embark on an exclusive adventure. We will start our journey in Quispicanchis, where we will visit the impressive archaeological complex of Tipón, an important center of worship where the Incas revered water, one of the elements of nature considered sacred in Andean cosmology. Water flows through channels and traverses terraces and waterfalls.

Next, we will head to the archaeological complex of Pikillacta, the Huari urban center dating back to the pre-Inca era. You’ll notice that the constructions here are quite different from Inca constructions.

Finally, we will visit the town of Andahuaylillas, where you’ll see its 16th-century church, known as the “Sistine Chapel of America” due to the abundance of paintings on its walls and ceiling. The church features an organ decorated with angels and cherubs, as well as large murals by the famous artist Tadeo Escalante.

Saylla: Place where people can enjoy the delicious pork rinds (optional).

We return to Cusco at approximately 3:00 pm.
