Cusco South Valley: Morning Half Day Tour - Cusco, Peru
  • Anywhere

EXPERIENCE:

This tour combines beautiful natural landscapes, Inca architecture in Tipón, pre-Inca Wari architecture in Pikillacta, and a visit to the Andahuaylillas Chapel, known as the Sistine Chapel of America.

Be collected at your accommodation in Cusco around 8:30 AM. Travel to the south of Cusco and observe the beautiful landscapes of the Andean Mountain Range. The first stop will be at the archaeological center of Tipón, which is a ceremonial Inka center. Here, through a stone channel, the flow of water from the high summits of the Pachatusan hill to the lowlands of the valley was controlled.

Later, visit the Archaeological Complex of Pikillaqta, which means the city of fleas. It is an old walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari Culture during its expansion into the city of Cusco.

Conclude the journey by visiting the beautiful Church of Andahuaylillas, which is a little jewel of the Colonial period. It is also known as The Sistine of America and inside is an impressive collection of canvases with gold-plated frames, mural paintings, and baroque altarpieces.
