Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

Cusco – Hydroelectric

We will start the day by picking you up at your hotel at 5:50 AM to begin our journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop will be in the charming village of Ollantaytambo, where we will pause for 20 minutes so you can have breakfast (not included) or use the restrooms. After this brief stop, we will continue our journey to the Abra Malaga pass, the highest point at 4,316 meters above sea level. From there, we will descend to Santa Maria, where we will stop for approximately 30 minutes for lunch. Then, we will get back on the minibus and head to Hidroeléctrica. At this point, the bus ride comes to an end.

Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
You will have two options to get to Aguas Calientes:

1. Take the train from Hidroeléctrica to Aguas Calientes, a 30-minute ride (not included).

2. Continue on foot along the route that follows the train tracks. This route goes through a valley and takes approximately two and a half hours to Aguas Calientes. Once in Aguas Calientes, you will head to your hotel to rest. At 7:00 PM, the guide will come to pick you up and take you to dinner and have a briefing about your visit to Machu Picchu.
