EXPERIENCE

Embark on a 3-day tour of Cusco and Machu Picchu. Discover the historic sites of the Inca Empire, including the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, and explore the incredible pre-Hispanic and colonial heritage of the region.

On arrival at Cusco Airport, you’ll be met by your guide and welcomed to the historic Inca capital, before being taken to your hotel in the city center. Once you’ve settled in, you’ll embark on a guided tour of Cusco, immersing you in the incredible pre-Hispanic and colonial heritage of the region.

Explore important sites from throughout the city’s history, like Coricancha, “The Golden Courtyard” in Quechua, which was the most important temple in the Inca Empire. Visit the Plaza de Armas and Cusco Cathedral, and admire the displays of local art and sculpture inside the Spanish colonial buildings.

Leave the city center behind and head out into the surrounding area to explore the archaeological remains of the Sacsayhuaman citadel, which dates back to before the Inca Empire; the ruins of the Puka Pukara military fortress; Qenko, one of the largest huacas, or holy places, in the Cusco region; and Tambomachay, a mysterious site which may have been devoted to the cult of water.

On the second day, after breakfast in your hotel in Cusco, set off to one of the most amazing places in Peru. Climb first aboard a bus, then train for the journey through the spectacular Andean landscapes of the Sacred Valley to the town of Aguas Calientes. There, take a bus along the snaking mountain road up to the peak of the mountain where, after a short walk, you’ll reach your destination: the breathtaking Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

Explore the different areas of the historic Inca town, wandering through alleyways between centuries-old stone houses and temples constructed on a mountain ridge of over 2,400 meters (almost 8000 feet) in height. You’ll soon see why Machu Picchu is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and the unique site with its mythical history is bound to captivate you forever.

Following a two and a half hour guided tour, have free time to fill your camera with photos. Sadly, you’ll have to leave Machu Picchu eventually. Following an unforgettable visit, take the bus back down the mountain to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have free time to eat dinner.

On the final day of your tour, enjoy breakfast before gathering your belongings and heading to Cusco Airport for your flight back home, after an incomparable three days exploring the historic sites of the Inca Empire.
