Day 1: Cuzco – Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up at your hotel/location at 6:00 a.m. to start the journey in a minibus. The first stop will be Ollantaytambo, where you will have about 20 minutes for a restroom break or to stretch your legs.

Abra Málaga Pass – Santa Maria – Santa Teresa

The route will continue until reaching Abra Málaga Pass, the highest point at 4,316 meters. From there, we will descend to Santa María, and then have another stop of about 30 minutes for lunch. Afterward, you will board the minibus again and head to Hidroeléctrica.

You will arrive by minibus at Hidroeléctrica. At this point, the road ends, and it’s not possible to continue by bus. You will have two options to reach Aguas Calientes:

Continue on foot along the route that follows the train tracks with your guide. The route goes through a valley and takes approximately two and a half hours.

Take the train (Inca Rail in the Expedition class) that connects Hidroeléctrica with Aguas Calientes in a 30-minute journey.
