EXPERIENCE

Relax as you sip your way through Cape Town’s wine country. After the collection, settle into a luxury coach equipped with onboard amenities including free Wi-Fi and USB charging ports. Your guide tells you stories about the early Huguenot emigrants who brought their winemaking skills to the Cape over 300 years ago.

Enjoy a morning cellar tour and wine tasting with a cheese platter in the Stellenbosch valley. The town, also known as the “City of Oaks”, has giant oak trees shading the streets, which are lined with picturesque cafes, boutiques, and art galleries. The Cape Dutch architecture dates back to South Africa’s Dutch colonial history. Your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historic town.

Enjoy another wine tasting in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley. Stop for a photo at Drakenstein Prison. In 1982, Nelson Mandela was transferred from the maximum security prison on Robben Island, a small island in Table Bay, to Pollsmoor Prison in Tokai, Cape Town. From there, Mandela was moved to the then Victor Verster Prison on 9 December 1988, where he lived in a private house inside the prison compound. Victor Verster, a farm prison, was often used as a stepping stone for releasing lower-risk political prisoners. Mandela served another 14 months at Victor Verster (Now called Drakenstein) Prison until his release on 11 February 1990. On the day of his release, reporters from all over the world surrounded the prison, giving the prison worldwide publicity.

Visit the Paarl Wine Route, which is the second oldest in the country, and is known for its full-bodied spicy reds and crisp whites. Shiraz is the most important varietal from the area, but Paarl wineries also produce remarkable chenin blanc, chardonnay, pinotage, viognier, and mourvedre.

Continue to the world-class wine estate Tokara as your second wine estate and taste up to 4 premium award-winning wines. If you love good food, great wine, and unparalleled views, clear your schedule and escape for a day to Tokara. Nestled on the upper slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, Tokara vineyard and olive grove overlook two of mother nature’s most awe-inspiring.

Return to Cape Town where you will be dropped off after a memorable wine tour experience.
