Arequipa: Tour along the Sillar Route + Culebrillas Canyon – Arequipa, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

The tour will begin with pick up from your hotel at 8:00 am. We will head towards the road to Uchumayo to reach the ashlar stone quarries, where we will take a guided tour to learn about the work of the stonemasons.

The peculiarity of these stones is that they can only be worked by hand, otherwise they would break. The work of the stonemasons is to carve the stone until it forms the ashlar. A very important fact is that this material comes from the lava of the volcanoes that surround the city of Arequipa.

We will continue our route and walk for half an hour to our next destination, which is the Culebrillas Canyon; It is a ravine formed by nature itself and the passage of water and has walls of 15 to 20 meters. In addition, you will be able to observe ancient petroglyphs, which are cave symbols that are engraved in the rock.

At the end of our tour we will return to the city of Arequipa. The excursion ends near the Plaza de Armas.
