Arequipa: City and Country Tour – Arequipa, Peru

EXPERIENCE:

Explore the beautiful city of Arequipa with an experienced local guide. See the Plaza de Armas and the streets of the Centro Historico. Look out over the city from the scenic overlook points of Yanahuara and Carmen Alto where you’ll have time to stretch your legs and take pictures of the Chili Valley and the Misti and Chachani Volcanoes. You’ll also get to check out the Incalpaca Outlet, the mini-zoo inside it, and learn about the four types of South American camelids: llama, alpaca, vicuña, and guanaco.

Visit the Sachaca district and the beautiful 19th-century church as well as the Balneario Tingo with its famous food including anticuchos and buñuelos. Travel the countryside along Via Paisajista to reach the 16th-century Mansion del Fundador and the Sabandia Mill where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the techniques used to process wheat with a stone mill.

Before the end of the tour, admire the Andenes de Paucarpata, man-made platforms that create a microclimate system that allow for growing a large variety of products in each of the stands. Return to the city center at the end of your adventure.
