Arc of Time La Venta River Canyon Expedition 2 Days – Chiapas, Mexico

EXPERIENCE:

Located at The Ocote Biosphere Reserve is Part of the river La Venta, that is bordered by high cliffs, forming a canyon with walls of limestone reaching heights of over 500 meters. DAY 1: The adventure start early morning ( 5 a.m.) with a Transfer from the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Capital of Adventure to the General Lázaro Cárdenas Agricultural and Livestock colony, municipality of Cintalapa, Chiapas, that is located at periphery of the reserve. Once there, we will begin our safety talk with the chief guide to introduce us to all the Staff who will be in charge and the delivery of the personal equipment that will be our responsibility throughout the Expedition will be generated.

It is planned to begin the expedition journey at 10:00 am. In order to reach the Arc of Time; a 3-4 -hour walk is made through the Ocote Biosphere Reserve, with the help of porters and mules to transport the necessary equipment for the Expedition (according your service hired), at approximately 2 p.m. we will arrive at the majestic Arc of Time, to get to the beach where we will camp, we will rappel down a 65-meter wall.

Our night will be accompanied by the first bonfire inside the canyon. Camping on the beach known as “Playa del Tiempo” next to the Arc of Time.

DAY 2: Discovering the Arc of Time. Very early after a cup of coffee the staff has invited us to walk a few meters from our camp to see what we hear all night, a sound that is generated by the siphons and the roar of the river when entering the area known as the Great Landslide, this area where giant rocks combined with rapids stand out;,at 10 o’clock we will begin with the extraction of equipment that accompanied us on the expedition to later continue with the ascent, we will use harnesses, carabiners, elevators and rope, for this we will climb from Individually with the help of the team mentioned above.

It is planned that at 12:30 p.m. we will start the walk in the El Ocote Biosphere Reserve, it is a rocky and rugged path similar to the first day when we entered the Río la Venta Canyon, after 3 hours of walking we will arrive where we will board the unit that will transport us to the General Lázaro Cárdenas community.
With the support of a family from the community, they will provide us with the last meal of the expedition at 6:00 p.m. We will board the unit again that will take us to Tuxtla Capital of Adventure.
