EXPERIENCE:

Explore various artifacts and artworks with a entry ticket to Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Enjoy your priority access and learn about modern and contemporary art.
Discover key art movements at the museum, also known as the most important museum of modern and contemporary art and design in the Netherlands.
Situated on Museumplein, where it first opened in 1895, it is a neighbor to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum.

Having undergone extensive renovation, the historic Stedelijk building has been expanded with the addition of a futuristic new wing. The addition has been a huge hit with visitors since the facility’s reopening in 2012.

Get priority access to a collection of 90,000 artifacts. Admire extraordinary works by world-renowned artists, including a great number of pieces by major 20th-century Dutch artists.

The permanent collection is one of the most important collections of modern and contemporary art and design in the world. The most meaningful movements in both art and design are represented by (inter)national artists and designers.

With well-known works together with lesser-known highlights by, amongst others, Vincent van Gogh, Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, Nicolaas Warb, Gerrit Rietveld, El Anatsui, Marlene Dumas and Charley Toorop.
The collection, organized thematically and in a loose chronology, emphasizes that art and design develop alongside social movements and bear multiple histories that encompass diverse perspectives.

KEITH HARING ‘Amsterdam Notes’ – till Nov 5, 2023
The 125-foot-drawing that Keith Haring titled ‘Amsterdam Notes’ in 1986 for his first solo museum exhibition at the Stedelijk is back, after it remained unseen for almost three decades. The work is one of the largest-ever museum pieces by artist and activist Keith Haring.

Upcoming:

NAN GOLDING ‘This Will Not End Well’: Oct 7 – Jan 28, 2024
This is the first exhibition to explore the breadth of Nan Goldin’s work as a filmmaker. Her explorations of a human life through the lens of the camera are legendary. Goldin’s photos of herself and her friends are snapshots of intimacy and coupling, of the quotidian and wild parties, and the struggle between dependency and autonomy. Goldin documented the world of her bohemian friends with raw tenderness.

MARINA ABRAMOVI? – Mar 16 – Jul 14, 2024
This exhibition represents the first major solo in the Netherlands of the internationally acclaimed artist Marina Abramovi?, the godmother of performance art. During her career, which began in Amsterdam and spans five decades, she propelled performance from its experimental beginnings into the mainstream. This retrospective covers her entire oeuvre – from her early works made in the 1970s to the groundbreaking works she made with her partner Ulay, up to and including her solo practice, which is still active today.
